'Taiwan's King Kong' A2 Print, Limited edition out of 50

£75.00

The original painting was created for a Birds in Hats exhibition in Taipei, it features the Taiwan Black Bear atop Taipei 101, a Taiwanese twist on the classic King Kong film poster. This is a beautifully reproduced A2 print, limited to 50.

The print is signed, numbered and titled on the back of the print in pencil. The print runs to the edges of the paper. A smooth rag stock, 100% cotton and acid free.

The text reads 黑熊霸王 - Hēi xióng bà wáng - which roughly translates as Black Bear King/despot!

The idea for this painting came suddenly and fully formed - by glancing up at Taipei 101 and imagining how much more fun King Kong would have been if King Kong was a Taiwan Black Bear. The style of the poster is inspired by the iconic, hand-painted posters made for the original 1933 movie but, of course, replacing the landscape of New York with Taipei - and replacing the airplanes with a flock of Taiwan Blue Magpies.
